In the town of Archer's Peak, children begin to go missing, most never to return. When James does come back, and without his friends, his peers blame him and the cops question him. He does not reveal the true horrors he's witnessed and he's not really sure what or if he's genuinely seen anything at all. Then a mysterious stranger named Erica arrives in town and approaches him. She claims she can see the monsters that other adults cannot and that she's been sent to kill the one in Archer's Peak.

I'm not typically interested in horror but am very intrigued by this ongoing graphic novel series, which was nominated for Best New Series at the 2020 Eisner Awards. This volume, which contains issues 1-5, ends on a cliffhanger as Erica begins to understand the uniqueness of the situation. I flew through this collection and I'm anxious to see what the rest of the series will bring.
