The Town of Merrimack is seeking certified full- or part-time police officers to fill openings for full-time Police Officer positions and to create an eligibility list for future openings.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Must be a current full- or part-time police officer employed in the State of NH or another state. Applicants must be certified by the NH Police Standards and Training Council (NHPSTC) or be certified in the state which they are employed as a certified police officer.
The eligibility process includes, but is not limited to, a written exam, physical agility exam, and an oral board interview. Current full- or part-time police officers employed in the State of NH must be certified by the NH Police Standards and Training Council and will be exempt from the written exam portion of the eligibility process only. Applicants will be expected to maintain physical fitness standards according to RSA 188-F:27 every three years per NHPSTC.
Candidates moving forward to fill the opening(s) will be subject to an interview with the Chief prior to a conditional offer. Post conditional offer, candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, psychological exam, drug test, a polygraph exam, and a thorough background investigation.
At the Chief's discretion, lateral transfers may start at up to $30.98 based on their experience, education, and skills. Health, life, and short-term disability insurance premiums are currently 100% employer paid. Includes paid vacation, sick, and personal leave, and participation in the New Hampshire Retirement System.
