Rose Franklin is riding her bike when she falls into a hole and into the palm of a giant metal hand. Years later, she is working with a top-secret team to crack the hand's code, slowly discovering other large body parts all over the world. All the while, she and her colleagues are interviewed by a powerful but nameless interrogator.
This is the first in the Themis Files trilogy and it's written in the form of interviews and journal entries, making for a fast-paced read. As someone who doesn't read much science fiction, I found this to be a great entry point. There are lots of big ideas, but the story remains approachable and fun.
