Full-Time Youth Services Library Assistant

Description: Due to an internal promotion, the Merrimack Public  Library is looking for a positive team-player to work in our fast-paced Youth Services Department. The ideal candidate will have creative problem-solving abililties and can be attentive to details while exhibiting a commitment to our library's mission. Duties include creating and leading innovative programs for children and teens; providing readers' advisory services and guidance in locating library materials; assisting patrons in the use of library computers and online services; attending outreach events. Hours: Schedule of 40 hours/week includes mornings/afternoon/evening shifts, and rotating weekends.

Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred. New MLS graduates and candidates in the NH Paralibrarian Certification Program welcomed. Experience working in a library setting, using computers and mobile devices, knowledge of youth literature, and performing excellent customer service preferred. Artistic and creative skills are also desirable.  Sense of humor a plus.

Salary: $15.60/hour;  benefits package including NHRS, Health and Dental Insurance.
