2022 Summer Reading Program: Oceans of Possibilities

Registration for the Library's 2022 Summer Reading Program has begun! This year's program will run from June 22nd until August 17th. If we reach our community goal of 600 badges, the Friends of the Merrimack Public Library will make a donation to the Seacoast Science Center.

Register online or through the Beanstack Tracker mobile application for iOS and Android. Readers who participated in the 2021 Summer Reading Program may use the same Beanstack account as last year. Email cathy@merrimacklibrary.org for assistance remembering your Beanstack credentials or merrimackpl@merrimacklibrary.org for assistance getting started. Reading may also be logged manually using the following forms; please note that each form will open as a PDF and will require a program such as Adobe Reader or Foxit to view:

Summer Reading FAQ

How do I participate?

Readers can participate in the summer reading program using Beanstack. When you create an account for yourself or your family, you'll be instantly connected to our Summer Reading Program!

What prizes are available for the Adult Summer Reading Program?

Readers are awarded badges based on the number of books they read, and each badge awards a certain number of raffle tickets to that user. You can also get raffle tickets by writing reviews in Beanstack and completing Beanstack challenges or our Summer Reading BINGO card. Names will be drawn from raffle tickets at the end of the summer.

Users will also be eligible for a prize book of their choice once they have read 10 books, then again once they have read 25 books.

  • 1 Book - 1 Adult Raffle Ticket
  • 5 Books - 4 Adult Raffle Tickets
  • 10 Books - 10 Adult Raffle Tickets
  • 25 Books - 20 Adult Raffle Tickets

Individual gift baskets will include a variety of themes, including an autumn night in basket, crafting basket, and summer fun basket. The reader who reads the most books throughout the program will also win a brand-new Kindle Fire!

Can I participate in the Summer Reading Program without Beanstack?

Of course! Simply log your reading using the form below (under "Attachments") that is appropriate for your program. Please note that each form will open as a PDF and will require a program such as Adobe Reader or Foxit to view. Submit one of these forms by:

Beanstack FAQ

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack is the easiest way to keep track of all the books you read. When you create a Beanstack account for yourself or your family, you’re instantly connected to the Library's reading programs, so you’ll get credit for every minute and every page. We’ll keep all your stats for you, cheer you on while you work towards your program goals, and let you know when you’ve earned prizes. When the Summer Reading Program ends, you keep your account and your reading history — it’s always free, and you can keep right on logging your leisure reading. When the next library program comes around, no need to re-register — just click on it, and you’re in.

Beanstack lets you:

  • Keep track of all family members' reading logs, progress, and rewards on a single account
  • Log reading from home or on the go
  • Read and write book reviews of the books you read
  • Explore book lists and create a "wish list" of things you'd like to read in the future

How do I log my reading or activities?

Either by entering the title manually or flipping your book over and using your phone to scan the bar code on the back. Once you enter a title, you'll receive options for entering the number of pages, minutes, or hours that you read.

Prefer to use your computer to log your reading? You can always enter your reading through your Beanstack account online.

How do I earn prizes with Beanstack?

Every time you hit a reading milestone, you’ll win a badge—a little digital fist bump to celebrate the quality time your brain and your books have been spending together. Prizes will vary depending on the program level signed up for (Early Literacy, Children's, Teens, Adults).

Can I add more than one reader to my account?

You can set up as many profiles as you like, for readers of any age. If you’re a parent who reads aloud to more than one kid at a time, you can credit that reading time to multiple children’s accounts with a single click—no need to log it in separately for each of your avid listeners.

How do I update my password?

Tap that little “gear” button in the top right and hit “Edit Account”.

How do I stop receiving emails from Beanstack?

Click “Edit Reader” (next to your name) and hit “No” under Email Notifications.
